10.4.11 Ministry of Research
The Minister of Research is responsible for the collection, tracking and utilization of all ylem gathered by a city. This ministry works alongside envoy researchers from Delve to employ the energy harnessed through ylem to improve their technology. Though extraction methods remain crude, the Ministry of Research is in charge of choosing the direction research will take, as well as the expenditure of ylem energy for technology upkeep and other boons.
It is important that the Minister of Research be a trustworthy citizen, as they control the city's future through the decisions they make.
The following commands are accessible to the Ministry of Research:
FUNDS RESEARCH
- See how much gold the Ministry of Research has.
YLEMLOG <city>
- Shows logs of recent ylem generation for the city.
YLEMLOG <city> SUMMARY [start] [end]
- Request a summary, which will calculate ylem gain and expenditure.
You can specify if this summary should be between a range of 0 to
30 weeks ago.

investment and research. Anyone may do this.
- Can also be viewed by using the shorthand AB RESEARCH.
CITY RESEARCH FORM CRYSTAL
- This will turn raw ylem into a solid crystal. Each crystal requires 250
ylem to make, and each person can only create five per howling.
- You can SHATTER CRYSTAL upon receiving one of these to turn them
into 3 to 5 ylem shards. Must be at the pylon.
CITY RESEARCH ABSORB CRYSTAL
- This will absorb a ylem crystal into your pylon, granting your city 200
ylem. Must be at the pylon.
Maintenance
-----------
The Ministry of Research handles the maintenance of the pylon, alongside deciding where to invest ylem. All commands require that you be standing at the pylon.
The following commands are related with maintaining the pylon:

a total of 100,000 ylem energy. Purchasing additional trees

Research Trees
--------------
There are currently six research trees available for cities to purchase: Commerce, Military, Research, Religion, Manipulation, and Production. Each research tree has five ranks, with an ability at each rank. They also come with a passive ability that scales with the tree's rank and has no upkeep. The abilities you get at each rank are hidden, except for the ability that you will learn next.
At certain ranks in the tree, the city will also require a significant gold investment to advance to the next rank. As follows:
1: Free
2: Free
3: 500,000 gold to research
4: Free
5: 1,000,000 gold to research
Commerce
--------
PASSIVE: City members obtain 2% bonus gold per rank from mobile drops, up to a maximum of 10% bonus gold.
This research tree focuses on improving a city's monetary efficiency and increasing their gold gain. Given that some of the higher research ranks will require gold investments, this is helpful for cities that have a lively economy or want to increase their organization efficiency.
Military
--------
PASSIVE: Military upkeep is reduced by 4% per rank active, up to a maximum of 20% reduced upkeep.
In addition to reducing wartime upkeep, the military tree provides invaluable upgrades to abilities for both security and wartime purposes. These present significant incentives for combat involvement, so cities that are keen on capturing major foci will find this tree useful.
Research
--------
PASSIVE: City members gain 1% bonus experience per rank active, up to a maximum of 5% bonus experience.
The research tree has two major incentives - improvements to PvE and experience gain, as well as increased efficiency for refining abilities and a minor boon to researching multiple trees. Cities who wish to be well-protected as they refine and advance their citizens' strength more rapidly will want to invest in this tree.
Religion
--------
PASSIVE: City members gain 4% bonus essence offered per rank active, up to a maximum of 20% bonus essence.
The religion tree has significant improvements for orders that have involvement in a city. While this is a niche skill tree, the improvements are high enough that cities with active Gods and Orders may find it very appealing.
Manipulation
------------
Passive: You may enable 3 modifications per rank active, up to a maximum of 15.
The manipulation tree unlocks improvements for applications of ylem reserves in a variety of ways, including boons to production of ylem or applications in PvP scenarios. The many modifications that can be unlocked may take time but are certainly worthwhile.
Production
----------
Passive: Each rank of this tree that is active will decrease base facility processing time by 1%.
The production tree unlocks knowledge of the construction and upgrades of production facilities, and various other improvements related to everything involved in the production cycle.
