7.9 Key Commands
A key is what is used to open locks on doors, chests, or other lockable things. Keys are able to open up to six different locks, most of which can be manipulated with the commands below. If you are not able to use these, you will need to contact your Patron about it. If you have a key and it has your mark on it, you will be able to take it to a locksmith and ask them to copy it for you. The following locksmiths can be found in cities: Name Location ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dilweg, the metal smith Bloodloch Foalin, the Keymaker Duiran Vorgna Glintspear, the Temple locksmith Enorian Cillian, the haughty locksmith Spinesreach COMMANDS -------- These will only work in a house or shop owned by you. If it is a shop and you cannot use the command, contact your Chancellor, otherwise contact your Patron. Probing a key will show what it unlocks. REQUEST KEY - With 1000 gold in hand, you may request a new key from any of the locksmiths above. REQUEST LOCK - With 10000 gold in hand, you may request a lock from any of the locksmiths above. The lock will come with a key made to unlock it. SHOPWORK LOCK <key> <direction> - This command can be used to make a blank key work on a door. SHOPWORK ADD LOCK <dir> - Add a lock to any door for 1000 gold. *NOTE* This can only be done in the stockroom of the shop. SHOPWORK REMOVE LOCK <dir> - Remove a lock from any door. *NOTE* While this can be done on either side of the door, be advised that adding a lock can only be done from the stockroom. COPY <key> [FOR <person>] * NOTE: Requires being in the room of the locksmith - Copy a key bearing your mark for another person. - Be aware that creating a key with someone else's mark on it then allows them to copy that key. If a name is omitted, it will simply copy a key in your name. KEYS <direction|replica> - Checks which keys can open a lock. - Must own a working key to the object in question.
