18.3.4 Fishing Derby
The 'Royale' Fishing Derby is a fishing contest that anybody can take part in! During the event, everybody has access to the Fishing skill and can participate. All fishing during this event must be done with 'a competitor's fishing rod' sold at Hagriphim's shop within Esterport, or your catches won't count. You can pick up a competitor's rod from the shop at #53411. The event is broken up into three rounds. Each round has a different objective to achieve, and will give out points depending on where you place in that round. Whoever scores the highest accumulated points at the end of the event will be considered the winner. Please note that part of this contest is knowing where to find all the various fishing holes. We may specify where to find something at the start of the round, but we won't be answering people's questions on where to find a specific fish or hole during the event. Commands: DERBY SCORE - See the score for the current round. DERBY STANDINGS - See the overall contest standings. The three rounds are as follows. Ties in rounds are broken by time of last fish caught (earliest catch = winner). Round 1 - Biggest fish ---------------------- This round lasts for fifteen minutes. Whoever catches the biggest fish in that time is considered the winner. Round 2 - Catching a specific fish ---------------------------------- This round lasts for fifteen minutes. The goal is to catch five of a specific type of fish (revealed when the round starts). Placing in this round is based on who finishes first. Round 3 - As many fish as you can --------------------------------- This round lasts for fifteen minutes and is a pure fishing frenzy! Catch as many fish as you can, big or small! Whoever catches the most fish in the time period is the winner for this round. Scoring ------- For each of the three rounds, 1st place gets 30 points, and each subsequent placing gets 3 points less than that (i.e. 2nd place = 27, 3rd place = 24 and so on). The winner at the end of the derby will be whoever accumulates the most points. If there is a tie, there will be a fourth tiebreaker round: Those involved in the tie will catch five fish each, and whoever has the largest fish in their five fishes will win the tie.
