The Free City Election: Candidates and Process

Sapience,

I write to you today to unveil the identities of the Delve's foremost electoral candidates. As many of you felt the need to involve yourselves in our sociopolitical climate over the last few weeks, I felt it prudent to keep you apprised of the latest goings on in hopes of fostering well-meaning diplomacy beyond the normal bounds of our technological and economical agreements.

In accordance with Hevan traditions, each candidate is seeking a formal Speaker to represent them. Said Speaker will be expected to campaign on the candidate's behalf and - more importantly - participate in electoral debate within Delve at a to-be-appointed date.

Without further ado...

Our first candidate possesses a long-lasting reputation throughout the city as a famous street chef: Tandalay, the Caentoi proprietor of Tandalay's Delicatessen. This culinary mastermind possesses quite the sterling reputation in the city's Exchange and we look forward to hearing what he has cooked up for campaign plans.

Our second candidate seeks to claim the vacant seat by birthright. Loethan Eldriss, son of the late Councillor Veran Eldriss. Far be it from me to divulge personal details on this candidate, however, his... provenance... is for you to decide. Find him in the Docklands.

Our third candidate aims to bring an air of intellectualism and academic savoir-faire to the Council: Scrivener Talas. You know him as the clever quill behind the ongoing translations of the Mysterium Eschatonica. He is usually found in the Pious Ward.

Our last candidate can oft be found in the Pious Ward as well, where he tends to the shrines and statues honouring the Bull. Tonzal stands as a war-priest of the Raging Herd, one of Gereghond's many cults, and is known to have contributed to militia and self-defense training within our fair city throughout the last few years.

We invite and encourage those with an interest in Delve's politics to meet with our candidates and get to know them. Prospective Speakers should make known their interest via letter to me, outlining their preferred candidate and why they believe themselves eligible. The candidates will then select for themselves.

Finally, while we have prepared numerous questions and subjects for the all-important Hevan Debate of Veils, should members of the public have questions they wish to be posed to the candidates, please enter these in the question box we have placed in Captain Guul Rog's care. You can find him in the centre of the Sonorous Square, marked as v35417 in Sapient cartography.

For freedom and liberty,
Lord-Provost Wahelei

Penned by my hand on Quensday, the 5th of Haernos, in the year 511 MA.
