Awakenings

When I was a child I'd look to the stars
And wish that I could see
The fate that was twistedly woven for
A woman such as me.
And when I became what I have become
I wondered what I shall be
And I shivered and shuddered in horror
Of the emptiness I've seen
Alone, no one with me.
I stumbled out to the bright daylight
For everyone to see
And stood out in muted reverence
Just wishing I could be
Something to someone that I could give to
And who would give to me
The reason to keep on surviving
The emptiness I've seen
Alone, no one with me.
Thus you flew into my world
It quickly came to be
A hand to hold, a love to mold,
Such joy came easily.
You lifted off my shackles and
Although you could not see,
You filled my heart with gladness
Cast the emptiness I've seen
Away, and far from me.
When I was a child I'd watch the stars
And gape at what I'd see
An endless field of endless hope
Upon that dark black sea.
The stars, they've called less often now
With hurt so recently
But now again they beckon
They beckon unto me.
My future calls, you see,
You gave it back to me.

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Slyphian, in the year 114 MA.
