Butterflies

"Welcome to my parlor," said spider to butterfly.
Thus the dance began between you and I.
The steps weren't stable
The dancers weren't strong
And, after a time,
It ended, our song.
And I lost in my soul
What I'd searched for so long.
My blood fell like tears
On the white Hashan snow.
The pain of my wounds
The only way to know
That I still bled
Lived
Died
That there was more to my life
Than the tears that I cried
Lying awake at night
Knowing that I had lied
That still, to your love
Was my happiness tied.
But you could never know
How my heart that day died.
My heart's song still echoes
In the darkness of my soul.
And I wonder how much longer
Must this pain take its toll.
I wonder how the world can't hear this sound
The tones and chords loudly resound
From whence my anguish does rebound.
Yet I carry on, without a sound
And fade from you, before the end
These words which my own lips have sinned
That web of love which you did spin
And caught my spirit in the end.
Your eyes, which once for me did shine,
No longer will they meet with mine.
Your lips, where kisses flowed like wine,
For them I may only pine.
Your heart, a gift from the Divine,
Beats for someone else this time.

And my heart aches and breaks
To see another's name where mine should have been.
To know someone else has the smile you gave me then.
To imagine your eyes locked on her
Your lips on hers
Your heart beating for her.
My soul screams to you, "Come back!"
But I never make a sound.
My arms reach for you, "Come back!"
But you are not around.
My silent sobs to you, "Come back!"
But my tears hit the ground.
For if you did come back
To try another round
I know it would only bring back
The pain that I have found.
And I know, somehow I know, that you're where you should be.
Looking upon her with your burning eyes.
Kissing her lips with your sensuous mouth.
Loving her with your precious heart.
You should be with her, and not with me.

The hurt awakens me again.
And I breathe a prayer on the wind,
Bring her Happiness. Laughter. Love. Life.
In my soul it is all I desire for thee.
Happiness
Laughter
Love
Life
To follow you and yours for eternity.
For the smile, no longer mine, crosses your face
And I see in your eyes where new love has its place.
Your heart I imagine has started to race
For this woman, her love, and her loving embrace.
That feeling that I used to willfully chase
Should be yours forever, and is not mine to erase.
So smile, my spider fair, and live on your life
With the joy and the love of your beautiful wife.
May it never be interrupted with strife
That wounds the soul and the heart like a knife.
Blissful love, may it follow the rest of your life.
So sayeth I,
Your Coral Butterfly.

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Slyphian, in the year 114 MA.
