Tragic Flaw

I have become familiar with the night.
Each singing insect, each luminous sphere,
Each shivering leaf, trembling with light,
Mechinations whispering solemn fear
Like ripples across a pool of splendor
I've seen the planets shivering and near
With sorrow overflowing their candor
Like ancient kings forgotten in decay
They smoulder like so many scattered embers
Until at last the dawn begins the day
Banishing the notes of silver silence
That echoed in the tenebrous hours
With golden rays of blissful defiance
Refusing arcane and darker powers
Withering away- like silent flowers.

Penned by my hand on the 20th of Slyphian, in the year 255 MA.
