Sayber was a sexy man, but getting hard up and old,
He stayed up every night, selling illegals for gold.
Till the undercover syssin, who had a sister named San,
For reasons unexplained, she loved the Sayber man.
Sayber was a player, course he fought against the law,
Found out hard way, only when it hit him in the jaw.
He knew he would find freedom, away from them in charge,
So San and Him got a stolen horse, now they were at large.

Would Dhaivol's hammer come down,
Sending them both to hell.
Never saw them when they stood,
Never saw them when they fell.

The undercover syssin never liked the Sayber man,
Even back in childhood, he wanted to see him in the can.
San was married at fourteen, to a merchant named Gill,
She had to send secret tells to the Sayber man, from a castle on hill.
It was out on the Prelatorian not far from the Reach,
They crashed into some guards, they could hear the horse screech.
The undercover syssin pulled up, he said, "Both o' you's is a liar!",
If yis don't surrender naw it's gonna go down to tha wire.

Would Dhaivol's hammer come down,
Sending them both to hell.
Never saw them when they stood,
Never saw them when they fell.

The syssin tried to stab Sayber, right from behind,
But Sayber took his dirk away, and messed up his mind.
The undercover syssin was left, tied up to a tree,
Near the Shootin' Star, for everyone to see.
The next day the undercover syssin was in hot tail pursuit
He was taking the whole thing personal, he didn't care about the court,
San told Sayber many times, "In tha city everythin's legal, as long as
you don't get caught."

Would Dhaivol's hammer come down,
Sending them both to hell.
Never saw them when they stood,
Never saw them when they fell.

So a place near by Delos, they ran out of stash,
The undercover syssin had cornered them, said, "You didn't think this
would last?"
But, San was under the sheets, she took the rapier from under the bed,
She spring out of the covers, slashed her brother in the head.
The syssin was found in a pool of blood out in a field,
While the Sayber man was on the Delos bridge, using San as a shield.
San said to the Sayber man, "I am no longer fooled by your cool."
I knew you long before, any of the other girls, may the God's teach you
rule.

Would Dhaivol's hammer come down,
Sending them both to hell.
Never saw them when they stood,
Never saw them when they fell.

Finally Spinesreach City is quieting down from the whole big sneeze,
I'm sitting in a dirty gambling club called the Winterbreeze.
I had to blow up everything, even poor old San,
Ever since then nightly news is about me, I'm a wanted man.
I guess I'll go to Ulangi and get myself some sun,
There aint no more opportunity here, everything's been done.
Sometimes I think of that Syssin, sometimes I think of San,
Sometimes I think of nothing but me, The Sayber Man.

Would Dhaivol's hammer come down,
Sending him to hell.
Never saw him when he stood,
Never saw him when he fell.

Penned by my hand on the 18th of Niuran, in the year 200 MA.
