Upon a Returning

The long and quiet rest
Which beckons to us all
Is a but a dream away
Cities rise and later fall.

Friends of old and far
In torpor sadly fade
Hearts once glowing warm
Cool in winters shade

I seek upon the gods
Sifting through the lists
For pieces of a past
How sadly they are missed.

But twilight follows dawn
And fills the nights with lore
For others step in places
That others tread no more.

Welcome back a gemstone
Her station shaped the land
New paths lie ahead for her
And there lead her by the hand.

Penned by my hand on the 11th of Niuran, in the year 185 MA.
