In late Arios, three divine gathered before the gates of Spinesreach with dark thoughts lingering upon Their minds and ill-tidings for the Spireans that gathered around Them. Damariel, the Unbound, Haern, the Hunter, and Slyphe, the Tempest stood before the lofty gates of the Spires. Damariel, chief amongst Them, was incensed with a boundless fury and called out to Maghak, the Sovereign
to stand before Them. In a crack of lightning and grumble of thunder, the Sovereign descended from His throne and stood looming before His Brethren. Accusations of hoarding mortal essence, plots against Slyphe's demesne and His very being were slung at the Sovereign upon His arrival.
After some time of arguing and posturing, and with the departure of Damariel, the divine clashed in a titantic brawl. Haern and Maghak rampaged outside the walls of Spinesreach with Slyphe striking at Maghak with a backstab from His beloved trident.
It was then that Something was seen in the bestial god--Something writhed beneath His skin. Something slithered in the whites of His eyes. It spoke, with a voice that had not been heard in many ages upon the land of Sapience and Maghak drew back in terror. As His erstwhile Brother brutalized Him, Slyphe attempted to pull the Hunter from Maghak but found Himself unable to dislodge the cruel beast that satatop the Sovereign. Snapping bones and moving a clawed hand deep into the god's chest cavity, Haern ripped thevery heart from Him.
The Hunter regained control of Himself shortly after tearing the Soverign's heart from His chest, recoiling in horror and regret at His actions. However, Slyphe seized on the oppourtunity, taking the heart from Haern and consuming the essence contained within in an effort to prevent whatever plot Maghak had been planning. It was then that the whole of the continent felt the effects of the fight between the Gods, with Maghak's domain of air and storms being wrested into the Tempest's control leaving the Soverign a husk of His former glory.
It was then that a stormtouched servant of Maghak, the very creature who informed the Tempest of Maghak's threat be it real or fabricated, appeared, declaring his pleasure over the Soverign's defeat. The wounded God, for His part, quickly ascertained the truth of the matter - that He had been betrayed by the creature He held bound to His service.
It remains to be seen what will happen with the Sovereign's fall in the northern reaches, but with storm and sea now within His grasp, it is certain that Slyphe has claimed a tenuous throne amongst His Kindred. It is certain that little trust remains amongst the Brothers of the Pools.
