My Story

Spinesreach,

I'm tired of hearing all these half stories and half truths. I despise being misrepresented. Many of you will dislike me, but even my worst detractors should know if I do something, I claim it without reservation.

I was removed from Spinesreach because during the retaking of the Empty Throne from the rebels, a Chaos Lord of Labyrinthine Chaos grew irritated at my name, Mulariad. Irra started to cleave me, and I stopped the cleave and went back to talking. A few seconds later, roughly 23 people slew me collectively. When I returned to life, Viceroy Pietre demanded that I return to them and continue assisting, as if nothing had happened.

I have never been shy about dying for the Theocracy, and anyone who claims I have been is a fool and a liar. If I had been asked to die to offer appeasement, I would have without question. I take the matter of loyalty rather seriously, however, and find it repulsive that after dedicated service and support for so many citizens in Spinesreach, that I would be collectively turned on without any forethought or attempt at resolution. Further, I find it repulsive that this action would be taken, and then my help would be demanded, ordered, commanded, as if I'm a dog to take a whipping and forget it happened. All this I stated to the city, and that because of it, I would not be assisting those who turned on me. I was cast out on the spot.

Last week, I inquired about rejoining. When asked why I should be considered at all, I cited myself as a prime proponent and advocate for the Sky's DIrective. From the days of its fledgling steps I have championed that cause, even when I had doubts, with the fullness of my authority and self. I have helped others come to terms with it and engage with it. I made it a city activity that increased participation and community pride. I fought and died and bled for it, and that never changed even when I was removed. Just moments before inquiring about rejoining, not only did I assist Spinesreach in fighting over the primal totem, I assisted in Spinesreach claiming a victory in the orrery.

I was told by the Regent that anything I have done related to the Sky's Directive and indeed the Sky's Directive itself is irrelevant, her word. As per her dictation, Spinesreach's goal is to overthrow and slay the First Dragon, and to achieve godhood as ordered by Severn. Since my reasoning does not align with that, it is irrelevant and not good enough. I told her flatly that I choose, and have chosen, to enforce the Sky's Directive, and that is my reasoning. I have confirmation from the Dragon on multiple occasions that She was pleased with the work and dedication to this cause.

To say I was confused is something of an understatement. Being lectured by the Regent who is still somehow a Regent after staging an attempted rebellion and abolishing the theocracy was enough of a culture shock on its own. To then be told that the divine directive I had invested a majority of my time into was irrelevant and not at all a reason to be Spirean was even moreso.

All this being said, I was refused citizenship. My reasons were "not good enough." If you're perplexed by any of this, welcome, so am I.

Ever,

Whirran Mulariad Arcan-Tetzauh
