Sapience, of adventurers and denizens alike:
I have heard the whispers of gossip among the cities, and cannot stand idly by while panic seeps into the minds of the populace. Where there is doubt, there roots anxiety, and in answers solace: I will apprise you of the circumstances to better refine concerns.
The rattling and disturbed gravesites are due to the revival of skeleton soldiers from an unknown necromancer. No city has claim to them, and collaborative magics between different disciplines has given no answer. They are not aggressive individually, and not terribly strong, but making determined efforts to fortify into legions and head toward the Hlugnic Labyrinth and southern Mournhold. Once in a legion, the become aggressive. Enorian has placed troops to fend off the Labyrinthian front, and Spinesreach is fortifying against the Mournhold front, in order to try and prevent whatever army may amass while we try to discern the culprit and their motives for these actions.
To the concerned denizens:
No, this is not an occupation effort to overthrow villages. For example, Spirean troops have been stationed in Mournhold since the Monomachy in order to protect people from getting too close to the ylem radiation of the Dreikathi ship wreckage. If we were invading, you'd have heard about it long before now.
Do not engage with the skeletons or legions if you spot them. Yelling about spotting them is helpful, as nearby adventurers may be eager to kill them.
Likewise goes for any brightly-coloured jelly beings in Mournhold: they can be killed with specific kinds of magic, and become aggressive when attacked. Despite how adorable they appear, please do not engage with them, for your own sake.
I realize that this all sounds absurd, daunting, and is not comforting to hear. However, you deserve the truth of the matter, as to better understand what the problem is, and why it has gotten this response.
If you wish to join the fight, please contact officials of the city-states or Council. If you wish to refrain, please do, and live well: a fight is hollow without a home to come back to.
In Service,
Dr Pietre Marcelli
