A Crafting Contest of Earth
Written by: Imp Lord Archelaus Akuhei
Date: Monday, January 18th, 2021
Addressed to: Everyone
Earth is an element of artistry and craftsmanship. It is from the Earth that we get the stone to build our homes, the ore to fashion our weapons, the rock to chisel into statues, and the gems to craft jewelry. The element is vital to all mortals, whether you abide by the teachings of its Lord or not.
In celebration of this aspect of Earth, I am sponsoring a contest of sorts.* I want to honor my Earthen Father by demonstrating the varied ways His element can be used and showcase just how beautiful and useful Earth can be.
The rules of the contest are simple:
1. The entry must be a product of jewelcraft, tailoring, woodcraft, or furniture skills.
2. Entries MUST BE APPROVED BY THE CRAFTING GUILD AND PHYSICALLY CRAFTED. Designs by themselves cannot be entered. You are welcome to find a licensed crafter to submit your design to the Guild and craft your design for you, however.
3. Entries may be mailed to me, accompanied by a message letting me know what your entry is and who you are. I am also willing to meet in person to accept an entry. Entries will be returned to contestants after the entry has been properly inspected and recorded.
4. One entry per person.
5. The entry must be made entirely of earthen materials. Rock, stone, metal, and gems are acceptable components. Bone is also an acceptable material.
Anyone who is not an enemy of Lord Ivoln's Order is welcome to submit an entry.
Rather than the traditional boring method of awarding a first, second, and third place, there will be winners of particular categories instead. The categories and prizes are as follows:
The Gold Wyrm Award: Prize 10 Credits
This award will go to the entry that is the most evocative of His Realm. The winning entry will in someway represent one or more of His teachings of Tenacity, Domination, and Potential. The entry may alternatively be representative of Undeath in someway. If you want further information on His teachings, you may contact me or one of His representatives.
The Silver Skull Award: Prize 10 Credits
This award will go to the entry that is the most aesthetically pleasing. The entry that wins this award will be one that truly encapsulates the majesty and beauty of Earth.
The Bronze Golem Award: Prize 10 Credits
This award will go to the entry that is the most practical. While aesthetics are important, this entry will be something that is actually useful as a tool, weapon, container, or useful in some other way.
The Lead Imp Award: Prize 5 Credits
This award will go to the entry that I, Archelaus Akuhei, like the most. This may be the trickiest category to win or perhaps the most easy. Whatever my selection is, I will elaborate on it when the awards are handed out.
The period for entering submissions will end on 10th of Severin, 493 MA, (OOC 2021/01/26 00:00:00 GMT)
The award winners will be announced at a small ceremony. The tentative date for the ceremony is one week after the submission deadline at the howling. Though, if it is delayed there will be an announcement. Before the awards, I will be delivering a short lecture/unofficial sermon. Light refreshments will also be provided. Attendance at the ceremony is not required to claim your award, all credits will be transferred to the winners along with a public post detailing the results.
I look forward to seeing all of your entries,
Archelaus Akuhei
