As I write this document, with a heavy hand, and even heavier mind, I
disclaim the purpose of this scribing, in the sense that it is not
designed to ruffle any establishment or individual. If a faction, or
individual feels offended at this presentation of words, may they be
humbled in knowing that my intent is not designed to waylay or disparage
the beliefs and outlook, and or opinions, of those that take a feeling
of offense or perceived insult at what I will say.
We live in the Midnight Age, despite various organizations having the
attitude that the era has changed, or is in the midst of change. We are
surrounded by enemies, we, the inhabitants of this continent. The grind
of factional warfare and the machinations and intrigue of otherworldly
and extra-dimensional entities and creatures, never miss an opportunity
to exchange our insular strife as a people upon the face of Sapience,
for gain and enhancement.
Among the plethora of banners and ideologies to cling to in an attempt
to give our lives purpose, one constant stands aside from the rest.
Tanixalthas. The Sun-Drinker. First of the Dragons.
Among all of the deities that we as mortal flesh creatures, living upon
Sapience, She is extremely unique. She bears more connection to our
plane of existence, and in fact, the baseline nature of us mortals, than
any other deity. She wields Her form freely, uninhibited by the confines
of a Shell which other Gods require to manifest themselves. Her soul is
untainted, and ancient, forged not in some other dimension or plane of
existence, but existing here, among us, unchanged from the time that
mortals clawed their way out of the horror and savagery of prehistory.
She bears closer kinship to our own modes of existence within the wheel
of reality, being rooted in the material world since the beginning, in
comparison to other Gods, who come from other Planes (or in fact, rule
them). Cast adrift in the ebbing flow of our existence, as centuries
march rapidly forward since the Grand Artifice struck our collective
history blind, we bear much in common with Her, in the spirit that we,
like Her, are bound to the Prime Material Plane, and our interests are
as such - Rooted within this reality - Not divested or removed, unlike
the myriad of entities that walk other dimensions or otherworld abodes.
She is, like ourselves, more down to Earth than any other deity, and Her
interests are solidly planted within our realm of existence, without a
tertiary bond to places that we don't connect with.
Her interests are also more akin to our baseline mortal nature, when
compared to other deities. Some gods have a specific charge within
reality, entrusted to them as part of their existence. Others make it
Their entire means and ways by literally preying upon emotions or mental
composition/archetypes that prevail within the mortal psyche. Unlike the
Others, Her ways and means are much like our own - Free, and unchained.
Capable of operating regardless of the motive or demands of a situation
here on the Prime Material Plane. As well as being unfettered by any
kind of orthodox mission.
Unity is a great, though horribly novel idea for us creatures living
upon the face of this Continent. But despite it all, out of all the
overarching things that would provide us with the best chance of
continued survival and existence, is by rallying around the First
Dragon.
