The Mark of A Luminary

Those who study with us long enough to master our abilities might be
thought Luminaries. To some extent, this is true. When one become a
Kindled Soul, the third rank within our guild, one knows our abilities
to retain knowledge of our abilities without continued training.
Yet a true Luminary is something more. A true Luminary takes those
abilities and goes out into the world and does something with them.
Whether it be razing a village of undead and subjecting its members to
purging flame, serving as a bulwark against the tide of darkness as its
forces encroach, or acting as a beacon of hope in the long cold night
for those who seek redemption, there are many worthy paths a Luminary
might take. Many roles we might serve.
We come in many shapes, races, and forms. Yet The Light is present, and
obvious, in all of those who serve It faithfully. Within ourselves we
carry its spark.
True Luminaries also carry The Light's mark. I am not speaking of some
metaphorical mark, some aura, but a true mark. A brand which sears
through cloth, sears and scars mortal skin, and is imprinted forever on
the chest of a Luminary.
From this day forth, the fifth rank of our guild shall be both the
beginning of our journey and our highest achievement. It shall be titled
simply, and appropriately, and sum in a single word what the individual
who wears that rank truly is. Luminary.
When a member of our guild attains the fifth rank, now and forevermore
simply called "Luminary", that member shall present him or herself to
The Light for judgement. Should he or she prove to be true of heart and
mettle, should he or she be found worthy, then the light shall stake Its
claim and leave Its mark. And we the guild shall proudly herald the
mortal embodiment of the coming of The Dawn. A new Luminary.
Those of you who have not yet undergone this ritual should present
yourselves to a secretary or myself.
With responsibility and rank comes privileges. Shortly, a portion of the
guild's funds shall be made available via the Illuminated Cloister to
all those who wear The Brand of Light. These funds may be used for
personal expenses when you are otherwise unable to cover them due to
service to the guild or The Light. Also too, the ability to title
oneself and others within the guild shall be made available to all who
attain this rank. More privileges shall come in the future. All shall
pale in comparison of the privilege, and duty, of serving The Light.
