A lost language

Greetings knowledge-seekers,

Many of you will recall that a while ago, some ancient tomes were found
in the digsite below the old Shrine of Ascension. After many years spent
studying the foreign characters, I have managed to decipher enough of
the texts to a point where they can be mostly understood. Until such a
time as I discover the true name of the language, I shall be naming it
'Herolian' after myself.

For those of you with an interest in learning the language so they may
study the texts for themself, I am more than willing to teach you.
However, before you begin to learn this language, or any language, I
shall need to teach you the basics of linguistics so that you'll have an
understanding of how other foreign languages work. As I am a very busy
man, I will only be teaching students who are earnest in their desire to
explore the world of languages. As such, I will be charging a fee of 60
credits for my lessons in the talent of Linguistics, to discourage
others from wasting my time.

I will be residing in my study at the Grand Aetolian Library, for any
wishing to learn.

Herolt.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Lanosian, in the year 289 MA.
