Recently there have been some rumors going around which have greatly
offended and concerned the Luminary guild, and we are conducting an
investigation into the situation.

For those of you who do not know, I will try to cut down on the gossip
and problems therein by explaining the situation. While there is not a
wealth of evidence as to the matter, apparently a pair of Cabalists
attacked a village of the living less than a year ago. These Cabalists
were stopped and slain by "a Luminary".

Normally this would not concern us enough to make an official
announcement, that is what a Luminary is supposed to do normally. But
the situation has remained a subject of discussion because apparently
the two Cabalists brought a child, presumably their child, into the raid
with them. After the supposed Luminary slew the Cabalists, rumor has it
that he severely burned their child without killing her. That child
eventually turned up in Enorian with a story to tell and some other
children to substantiate the claim.

After discussing things amongst the guild, we have decided to release
the following statement. Every Luminary novice knows, or should know,
that cruelty is against our ways. To severely burn a child and leave her
alive, even the child of necromancers, is not something that would go
over well. The Luminaries are a fairly close-knit guild and whoever this
was has yet to come forward, but we are not convinced it was one of our
members to begin with.

One of our biggest concerns is that the examination of the girl shows
her to have been scarred by acid burns, not fire burns. As Luminaries we
know the difference between different kinds of burns, and obviously have
no reason to be carrying large amounts of acid with us, so we do not
know how this child came to be injured so. All we know is that the
nature of her injuries supports an inference that they were not caused
by a Luminary.

If anyone has any further information relating to this event, at all,
please contact a leader of the Luminary guild. There may be a reward
involved depending on how the investigation goes as if this was done by
a Luminary or former Luminary it would be of greater interest to us. If
someone is posing as a Luminary to attempt to defame us or if it was
some backwater priest, we would also want to know so that we can deal
with it appropriately and keep our good name clean.
