Ianus, and by extension, Archons of Ashtan:

You are free to walk the streets of Enorian so long as you do not break
our laws. However, you no longer have any protection under our laws.
Should you be murdered in our streets, no charges shall be pressed and
no investigations done. I truly believe there are people in Ashtan -
good people, who recognize the greater threat - but somehow the
leadership has elected an idiot to speak for Ashtan, and we will have no
part of Ashtan until such time as such incompetence is removed. Do not
send your Ambassador to Enorian, do not attempt formal relations, for
none shall be had until the puppet is removed.

You raise a good point, and perhaps I over-simplified my point. However,
Darkness is not the night, for even in Night there is light shed by the
moon and stars and the forthcoming dawn. Even then, there is light to
guide your footing.
