War and Motivation

I am pleased to see the reaction of the Sentinels. Such passion such
hostility such, dare I say it, anger. Spiteful vengeance is certainly my
favorite side of one's character, but in your rant I noticed one tiny
flaw, and within it I see signs of something deeper. You see, to the
Infernals, this War is not a question of weakness, or a contest to
display the most strength. It's a simple matter of justice. The Leader
of the Pride committed a crime against the Infernals, and his guild is
defending his actions. We Infernal Knights are bound by a strict code of
Honor, and by that conviction we possess the responsibility to uphold
justice against all crimes committed against us. But as your speech
clearly indicates, the Sentinel perspective of this war is much
different.
Xon's words: "You are inferior to me in every way, and I do not give
inferior people anything."
Wylliam's words: "We are not weak, and we will not bow to you."
Within this speech, I detect the tell tale signs of fatal hubris. You're
taking this war to be a test of pride, and sacrificing many Sentinel
lives to prove something that is not even in question. Why else could
you refuse to offer any negotiations when our terms for peace have been
so fair? I honestly do not understand how we could make the solution to
this conflict any more achievable without abandoning our oath to
justice.
And yes, yes, I understand that the Sentinels, in their infinite
practice and knowledge of Honor, believe our actions to be dishonorable,
and are citing that as one of their many excuses to continue their
fight, but the fact of the matter is that there has yet to be a single
month of battle where the Sentinels have even matched our capacity to
kill. In fact, if you took the time to pay attention to your losses
you'd notice that they are nearly double ours. And for what? One death?
If you are not accepting slaughter for foolish pride, then what are you
dying for? It certainly couldn't be for the pursuit of justice or
righteousness because if it were you wouldn't be so quick to defend your
Guildmaster, who committed a crime and sparked this War in the first
place.
And so, I say, if you wish to persist with this conflict, be my guest.
We Infernals will continue to meet your efforts with steely resolve and
superior numbers. We have nothing but more experience and entertainment
to gain from your suicidal hubris. And if you wish to involve personal
allies, so be it. You think we have already done the same, but rest
assured, you have no conceivable perception of the potential malice
you're about to bring to the surface. If, as you say, we are the only
people capable of stopping this War, then I reply that we have made the
solution quite reasonable.
Complain, spout off insults and ideals, rally your personal allies to
your side, and make up whatever reasoning you can think of to continue
this fight. The Infernals will match your strategy and employ the dark
talents of those who have been chomping at the bits to destroy you, and
our Knights will continue to pursue justice no matter how many Sentinels
choose to die. The bloodshed will not cease until the Sentinels at least
attempt to make some sort of proposal or effort for compromise, and this
war will rage with little to no grief on our behalf.
