Waiting
Is a tragedy
Waiting tastes like
The sky before it rains
Waiting turns seconds into lifetimes
And days into
Infinity
Into
Absurdity
This waiting is like a breath
Taken over a thousand years
Like the slowest death
A man can have
Like coming home
To a house on fire
And laughing
As the ashes kiss your face
Waiting is a masochist's dream
terrible in it's certainty
Beautiful in it's anticipation
Waiting is the darker side of any heart
Waiting makes
Your body worthless
Nothing to stand upon,
Only to fall
It makes your stomach clench
Your ears ring
Your heart thrum
With a deep inner sense
Of loathing and loving
So you watch the sun
And you mark the shadows
Draw the wait out
By time unmeasured
Until your fears
Are burned away
And scatter like dust in the wind
Penned by my hand on the 20th of Arios, in the year 129 MA.
