Poetry News Post #778

My apology...again

Written by: Lahlah Amaratha
Date: Tuesday, February 17th, 2004
Addressed to: Courier of Entropy, Kaga Arsene, Vicar of Despair

Standing in the sea
Waves lapping around our legs
Your arms circling me

We needed no words,
You and I spoke silently
With our drumming hearts

We snatched time like thieves,
Basked in glorious moments
Nurtured budding love.

You said more with one
Casual stroke of my cheek
Than my heart could bear.

We knew we were wrong
But it didn't stop our hearts
Loving each other.

Guilt wasn't even
Enough to keep us apart...
At least for a while.

Eventually
Circumstances came about
That tore us apart.

I still think of you
Smile a little secret smile
Remember your touch

Wish I'd been stronger
Wish things could be different
Wish I could go back.

To that simple time
Before the apologies
Were necessary.

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Variach, in the year 122 MA.
