Leaves

This crackling of leaves 'neath my feet does remind me

Of times past where days transpired into nights
And everything substantial simple nothings.
That what was warm now enshrouded in cold
The everblanketing, respectful, and
Insinuating pain patiently waits.
Now's its precise moment to
Strike and I don't even
Know if it was
Ever worth
Trying
To
Fight
But it is
It is indeed
Necessary to
Continue upwards and onwards,
Rising to the heavens and letting us
Shine that which was then dark is now cleansed
And the veil of shadow that embraced us now pierced
Its veil of vulgarity untarnished by all that is good
All that will become of, and all that we dream for, when
Our minds drift lazily, how does a simple leaf stir us so?

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Severin, in the year 121 MA.
