As rivers flow at leisurely pace
And birds do clap their wings in tune
It's been long since we were here to face
To pass from water to the dune

Find a little place to call your own
Bound together inside Iosyne's tomb
Where death can't reach what you've sown
Out here in this misbegotten room

Where the pen has passed before the sword
Like a literary cliche wrapped up in leaves
And a million voices crying out 'We're bored!'
Counting the seconds until the violence ceases

I return for moments at a time
Gathering life gathering light gathering night
I can't recall a single moment of this rhyme
Wondering if we both retain the urge to take flight

Wake up, my friend, wake up
The rivers have faded and the birds have flown
Like the crazed assumption we dub
Belief and leave on the coasts to drown.

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Midautumn, in the year 117 MA.
