Mystery

I've slept in the darkened halls
That most souls will not tread
I have walked the lonely paths
Alone amongst the dead

I observed the happy mountains
I watched the raging seas
I whispered in a lonely cave
And hid amongst the trees

In the desert I have roamed
Across the plains I raced
I have danced in rivers
And enjoyed my Embrace

Yet all these places I have been
One thing remains with me
No matter where I run and play
You can't escape Mystery

What is in the darkened halls
Why is there no light?
Why are these paths amongst the dead
How did they fall or fight?

What made the mountains grow so tall?
Why are the seas so wide
I wonder these things alone at night
As I drift in and out with tide.

What makes this cave so pretty?
What has happened here?
Why are these trees so very old?
Why do people fear?

What is it that makes the desert hot?
How do rivers flow?
And when they reach their true end
Where do the seas go?

The plains are awful big, you know
Has anyone died here
And why is it the grass is green
What makes the clouds adhere

So many things that I must learn
And yet so little time
Aetolia changes much more quickly
Than I have time to rhyme

But I will still learn everything
Just so I can find
A cities worth more Mysteries
To occupy my mind

Auvira

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Chakros, in the year 116 MA.
