vampires

vampires, vampires, stalking the night
giving poor mortals a terrible fright

some rape, pillage, burn and destroy
and play with the world, like a small child's toy

some read, some write, some dream a dream
waiting for others to blow off some steam

some sell perfection, others want a cookie
while some sell thralls for a little nookie

some demand titles, silly as can be
but respect is earned, at least from me

some have secrets, and crazy names
while they sit and scheme, and play their games

vampires come, different as can be
though not everyone can start or begin to see

what will become of us, in the coming days
will our world become darkened and covered in haze?
is it the end, or a new beginning
it's a battle I'd like to think we're winning

shall the empire topple, crumble and fall
can we find a way, to unify us all?
agree or disagree, it is your choice
perhaps some day, we will have one voice

My first poem here, a bit of rambling, but a few specific refrences.
Some funny, others serious. Dark days may be coming, and I would like to
one day see a new organization for free vampires everywhere. Somewhere
to belong without discrimination. Somewhere where I can share the good
and the bad with my brethren. Some day my friends...

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Variach, in the year 116 MA.
