The Thief of Souls - Part I

---Mother to Daughter---

Right near us is a traitor,
Hidden from our very sight,
He is a little thief,
Shrouded in the night.

Be careful where you tread,
Watch to whom you lend your trust,
He may just be this little thief,
So caution is a must.

The corners that you turn,
The alleys that you pass,
Inside may be this traitor,
A knife within his grasp.

This knife is long and cold,
Its steel the darkest blue,
Ive seen this very knife myself,
And I trust my words with you.

My words may sound like gibberish,
Uttered by a newborn baby,
But if you do not heed them,
Doom befall you, maybe.

Ive never seen his face,
Which he covers with a mask,
His body is half melted,
But why, I must not ask.

He steals the souls of many,
As their mouths all gurgle red,
He steals these souls from all,
Long after they are dead.

He lets them feel the pain,
Of many years ill spent,
Gathering gold and friends,
As many rules are bent.

These rules are very secret,
Their meaning hidden deep,
He told me as he drew his knife,
That these my death will keep.

I was lucky that day,
Unlike all the rest,
I left with my life,
Though my strength was not its best.

I escaped with just a gash,
Cut deep into my skin;
I lost much of my blood that night,
But now my heart is tin.

Remember this, my darling,
My storys truth for all,
Know whom you are with always,
And if you dont just call.

With your voice Ill come,
Running like the wind,
To defend my only daughter,
Even if it costs my skin.

I do not claim to see,
Beyond my own poor vision,
But I know within my heart,
That this soul-thief will have risen.

Keep this poem near and dear,
Which always you shall heed,
Watch out for the little thief,
And all his evil deeds.
