Forger

Walking through Shallam I heard a voice
The offer it cried out made me rejoice
"Forger, trans forger, trans forger for hire!
I can make anything you might require."

Not long before, my heart had been shattered
Broken to pieces and torn into tatters.
So I thought this forger could perhaps release
Some special armor to keep it in one piece.

Steel can't block out the cruelest of words
It doesn't keep "I love you" from being heard.
Wisedom alone can get in harm's way
Since people don't always mean what they say.

Wisedom itself may not be enough
Armor needs more than just to be tough.
Just mix it with compassion so I can assert
That I'm not the only one who has been hurt.

Leather can help armor stay on very tight,
But for me this is not quite right.
I think maybe hope will keep it loose enough
So that someday I will again love.

You'll need more than this to it right
The forging will take a very strong Knight
You will also need the hottest of fire,
My forger, trans forger, trans forger for hire.

You said you'd supply all materials yourself.
I think that's quite impressive myself.
If this armor were normal we'd have a deal
But wisedom, compassion and hope aren't leather and steel.

Armor like this is priceless I have been told.
Even I can't imagine a cost in gold
So if you could forge it, how would I pay?
Will alone doesn't always guarentee a way.

It's not use; my heart is already scarred.
Dealing with love may just be too hard.
Perhaps one day someone will keep my heart safe
Until then, trans forger, thank you anyway.

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Midsummer, in the year 108 MA.
