I knew you only barely, that is I knew your name. My heart was cast out
years before.
So I thought you were safe to speak with as I could love no one anymore.
We exchanged greetings and I asked a question, whose answer I thought I
knew,
It sparked a conversation about our lives which ran for a day, or two.
We shared, we laughed, and I found that my greatest fear
Lay not in the pit of despair but instead was arriving right here.
So I tried to scare you from me and showed you the darkness inside.
I thought you would flee that instant, from my shadows you would surely
hide.
Then you laughed aloud at me and shamed me for my fears.
It seems that you too have shadows carried along throughout the years.
Your eyes, they looked right through me deep into my soul
And I felt your spirit filling me as if I were not whole.
Then my fears were answered, and you gave your love to me.
The power of your emotion was so great that I surrendered myself
entirely.
A beam of light, brighter than the sun burst the shackles of my heart.
The light was from your soul and it tore my defenses apart.
The love I had forsaken arose to fill my chest.
And my heart beat anew, calling you from beneath my breast.
Before I could even try to resist, I gave myself to you.
And I felt the life returning, as I began to love anew.
The blue of your eyes is as the deep oceans, as rich as your sweet kiss.
And I envy the mer of Riparium who can live in such cobalt bliss.
Your silvery skin hints of the moon's rich light
And it shines with the glory of rich black night.
I am now complete again, my spirit shared completely.
And there is nothing to hide from you of me.
This love, so complete, it has completely changed my life.
And I thank you for that, my love, my soulmate, my wife.
Penned by my hand on the 11th of Arios, in the year 99 MA.
