Spring

Yes, this might be a bit late, but here 'tis...

Winter too long,
Praising in song
We welcome the Spring,
And so do we sing

"Here is the season,
When love needs no reason
When most are merry,
And plump is the berry
When pleasant is a walk,
And animals seem to talk
When plenty is the wine,
And the sun again does shine
When greenless slumber long,
Comes to an end with the start of a song."

But quickly comes the Summer,
A hot and relentless comer
Winter away and Spring soon done,
Followed by the echo of a song much sung.

Penned by my hand on the 18th of Ios, in the year 99 MA.
