One Moment

It was only a moment, holding no permanence in time, yet it resounds in
my being to this day.

We both knew love was not our destiny. Neither expected our lives to
join as one. Our futures were divergent paths at that one moment.

Witty banter and cheerful smiles led to teasing grins and unspoken
dares. The sounds of what we hadn't said was deafening. The fires burned
in our eyes, each of us wanting the other, all at once in this one
moment.

And when our lips met, we opened the doors to a world of new
possibilities, new desires. We saw each other with new eyes, thirsting
for fulfillment, in one moment.

We slaked our thirst, drinking deeply from passion's troth. Our spirits
came together and we shared the pleasures of night's embrace, giving
ourselves freely to that one moment.

We parted as we had arrived, with neither pledge to be spoken nor
promise to be broken. Our sensual retreat ended as it began, without
remorse, without commitment. Living and dieing for that one moment.

And though you did not know it, you left something behind, a piece of
your being which I will carry as a part of myself forever. You touched
my eternity, in just one moment.

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Midautumn, in the year 92 MA.
