The Security Blanket

Written by: Headmistress Isia Taziyah
Date: Friday, January 24th, 2025

Regarded mockingly by a dissenting voice
One who once thought to sway my choice

They painted us as my codependency
But you'd become my favorite tendency

Made you out to be a crutch for perceived weakness
When to me, you are the light in all of this bleakness

A young girl's thing to hold fast to
The one all my favored memories knew

A distraction to avoid what I didn't want to feel
No, you're my fortress, and my heart was yours to steal

Years pass, whispers cease as they meet extinction
Your stability endures, an unmarred distinction

When once, they left me out, alone in the cold
You wrapped yourself around me, warm and bold

I claim those words once spoken in snide, I speak them in praise
As onto you, I will cling, shameless for all of my days

Penned by my hand on Quensday, the 13th of Dharos, in the year 9 AC.
