Darkness surrounds
Casting no shadows, leaving no trace
Of the light that shone before
A flicker, a small flash
Burning flame now reigns
Lights those who come close
Those who fear it, crawling back
Shadows are thrown upon them
Slivers of the darkness abandoned
A touch of flame; burning pain
A touch of shadow; incredible cold
And in between, light, darkness
A young human rests.
