Truth?

It is now
in the end of it all, we find some use in a beginning.
The clash of swords,
The smile of promise
And the usefulness of the lie.
It was all around us then, kept and held by towering walls
That allowed no wickedness in.
Cherished there,
Worshiped as heros there,
We were introduced to sin.
No, no...let me back up.
You see we stood at arms, smiles caressing the chapped lips of soldiers.
One hand on the hilt of our swords and the other on our hearts
We walked blindly, well versed in our parts
Into the mouth of his will.
He stood, His back straight,
His resolve more powerful then any force on the planet.
He said 'follow' and he did not have to demand it.
One day crashed into another.
We worshed him - our prized General and Speaker of Truth.
He taught us to seek and so we sought.
I'll be damned we just never thought
Through mutual growth lie what we struggled for for so long...
The awful, rugged truth of Gods and men:
It sees no banners nor colors,
No man nor God,
Only the need for it's selfish, never-ending progression.

The soldiers march on
Some under different banners,
Most with the same intentions.
Still, when I run my finger over cold steel of my blade..
I remember a God that taught me the importance of 'reality'.
The sin layed not in the pursuit -
Only in the mindless submission.
And so, God of an impossible plight
Lost in the gross incompetencies of life...
You...
Are...
Missed.
