An unfortunate turn of events..

Last Trip

The years went by in the blink of an eye
Without notice, they whizzed right by
Not long after, life became strange
Boredom set in and things began to change
Wandering aimlessly, I bumped into an old friend
He said a secret I could borrow, if my ear I would lend
Curiosity killed the cat, so why not a scoundrel like me?
I gazed into his eyes, but there was nothing I could see
He described a state of bliss which I could not comprehend
It sounded too enticing, it had to be pretend
All you have to do, is take a few of these
Then you'll be off floating upon the seven seas
It lasts pretty long, so you can't beat the price
If you wanna have a blast, kindly take my advice
So I wrote down a number and decided I'd give it a try
And the first time I tried it, the shit made me cry
I don't know why, I just lost all control
After that I had a chat with my inner soul
Yes, powerful it was, and last long is what it did
Ten hours strong and I had nearly flipped my lid
I adapted to it quickly, this "spirit world" was cool
But that was the thought of a wretched fool
For I traveled more frequently down that dark hall
And then one night, I heard the Devil's call
I wasn't afraid, so I journeyed closer to His voice
But even if I was scared, still I had no choice
The hideous form loomed before me sporting a naked grin
Howling and snarling and singing sacred sin
There were two thick horns protruding from His head
And razor-sharp fangs forever bloodstained red
Fingernails were claws and He had a pointed tail
Shaped like an arrow and jagged like a nail
He stood beside a torrid, fiery abyss
And sweat sizzled off Him with a Hellish hiss
He told me there was no escape from this murky mire
But I could cleanse my soul by jumping in the fire
What was I to do? Too confused to think
I just closed my eyes and acted upon instinct
I drew a deep breath and leapt for the flames
There was no time for jokes and no time for games
The scalding pit vanished, but this was not a dream
I realized what was happening and then I tried to scream
I had dove off a twelve story building, with swanlike grace
And that scream never reached my lips, as the pavement smashed my face!

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Chakros, in the year 231 MA.
