The Forest and the Fire

Written by: Song of the Redwood, Naemanee Melyonan du Lais

The tallest of trees,
Formidable was she,
That sang so bright a forest song.

The wind was her carriage,
The grasses her throne,
She that commanded the wilds so strong.

He was a Master
of all that is good
Against evil and darkness he stood.

Reflex was his gift,
Strength a coin in his hand,
He that wielded the power of good.

She fell into step
with too much of the wild
and let her emotions run like a child.

He resisted her will
and turning he fled,
piercing her burning heart 'til it bled.

Now she stands alone,
in bleakness and in shadow.

Now she only hums
a harmony so shallow.

And in near silence

she cries.

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Chakros, in the year 227 MA.
