On Two Years

Helpless in your gaze when first we spoke
Was I, a captive bird within a cage -
Your intellect and beauty, love, awoke
A wildfire blazing age to age;
And in that solemn moment you inspired
Poetry unravelling from my quill,
With breathless words I wrote that I desired
You, and two years hence, beloved, desire still.
If blessed are we to multiply our years,
Eternally adrift in love's vast sea,
Then Dawn, my dear, shall come erasing fears,
And rise for me in you, and you in me.
In sun's swift rays my gentle heart you moved,
And in our hearts conjoined devotion proved.

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Arios, in the year 208 MA.
