my heart, as a firefly, elusive
flickering steadily, drawn helplessly
into the inferno that rages within you

love, like haunting eyes of bronze
burning with a foreign flame, yet
captivating as those once-kissed

within these pyres I am helpless -
you retreat as a thief in broad
daylight, my words the treasure
stolen with a single glance
