Poetry News Post #1479

Fortunately, I am not a Sentinel

How droll to see a Sentinel
espouse his guild's virtues -
I'd wager that his list would change
had he objective views.

How strong they are: those of the Pride,
the noble Hunter's hounds.
What bravery, to run from foes
back to the Heartwood's bounds!

In spite of this, let us applaud
their hunger for combat.
At what price life, when you may have
a patronising pat?

And how remiss I would have been
to skip their fearsome trait!
Small children cry and kittens die
each time they procreate.

Yet blessed are the Sentinels
and feted are their ways;
for ignorance is truly bliss
and happy are their days.

Penned by my hand on the 22nd of Chakros, in the year 199 MA.
