Saire

I have known
the agony
of birth.
Life ripping forth
from life,
like from like.
I have felt the
terror of iron
against the beauty
of nebulous
welkin;
of radiant
day.

I have
more memories
than could last
the centuries
I perpetuate.
I have forever
been locked in a mind
that knows limits.
Seen, have I,
the darkest corners
of the most
effervescent,
and scoffed
at the
shadows,
cobwebs, there
abiding;
residing.

What more shall I know?
Should I
allow,
like wine,
to pass through
my veins
and into
sweet Psyche
the knowledge
of centuries
to come?

I've miles
to cross
and years
to seek
until at last
I fall to
sleep.

~

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Ios, in the year 164 MA.
