Seeds.

Flurried seeds upon the wind
Dancing together a moment
A reminiscence of lives amid the trees
The amity and jubilant life
Lost amid the sea of faces
Striving for a shard of the light

With gusts and unconscious caresses
Dip the strangers before the fall
Haunting faded memories of blissful pasts
Bursting with seasons spent in exertion
For foreign soils and unknown shores
Lie ahead in the months and years.

In soils, in wait
While courtiers of rain and fertility do call
Provoked dances in the sky
Ever lingering in this seeds' mind.

And seasons pass amid the elements
Quiet remembrance, ever longing
Swayed finally to burst from its weary shell
Casting this past behind,
Birthing into the brightness amid dew and leaf
Painful life anew

Fading darkness shows the world
Suddenly familiar from ghosted thoughts
Guilted isolation and years lost
Alone within the earth

But there from whence the earth
Sprouted higher and stronger beside her
Would be the dancer in the sky
Remade and radiant, herself a reflection of freshness

So fearful of letting the memories go
Small seeds lie fertile within the soil
Tilled under and left behind
Attempted forgotten
Inside cracking, rarely dying
Waiting to be allowed to prosper

What beauty does our pitied pain abandon?
What changes do we bury?
To forego the unknown birth beyond
Cowed by their feelings,
Self-conscious refrain
When letting in is the only possible freedom.

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Midsummer, in the year 149 MA.
