Hollow Tree

Blessed snow hides me

I lay unseen in the fury of a winter storm

When I cannot be seen, I feel safest.

I feel normal, acceptable

None can look past me

like I'm invisible on a clear day

meeting glances that disregard my own

I'm different than you are

Pure, untouched as is this snow

No strange hands upon me

The friendly glance grows cold again

as my flawless exterior is discovered.

Deep inside I'm aching

over and over I'm denied

everything I wish for, what I see.

Why can't you just see me?

In the moonlight I am beautiful

and you are dark like me.

Penned by my hand on the 6th of Variach, in the year 147 MA.
