I said goodbye to the Sun today

I said goodbye to the Sun today--
Bid my farewell and walked away;
Turned my back on the heat of life,
And said my vows as Darkness' wife.

Going willing to Night's cool embrace--
I will not miss the warmth on my face.
I will not miss the sweet golden light
Illuminating wonders to my sight.

I WILL NOT miss the Sun's kiss on my cheek,
Nor the feeling of joy at Dawn's first peek.
I CAN do without those honeyed rays,
I tell myself through a blurring haze.

I said goodbye to the Sun today....

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Severin, in the year 70 MA.
