Firstly, please allow me to introduce myself, or perhas *excuse* myself.
I am Shahvani, a Novice Mage. Aetolia is the first MUD I've played...
Consequently, I am faced with learning the world of Aetolia *AND* the
world of MUDding.
I have been adventuring in this world now for nearly a month (RL), and
until now, I've been using a simple Telnet client (HyperTerminal). It is
clear now, however, that I need to "upgrade", so to speak, as I wish to
enable macros, etc. I'm particularly fond of AUTOMAPping, given that my
sense of direction is horrid, both here in Aetolia and RL.
I discovered, recently, the freeware MUD client AL
(http://www.ashavar.com), apparently developed by players of Ashavar's
Legacy. I have used it sparingly these last few nights, and it is
already much better than my HyperTerminal. I've learned how to enable
MACROs, *some* TRIGGERs, etc, but, sadly, I'm completely at a loss in
using the AUTOMAP function. I've read all the help files available at
the site, but remain ignorant. I've enabled the AUTOMAP function, but
nothing ever appears in the MAP, even though I've travelled here & there
and even LOOKed in each room.

I sincerely hope someone here can mentor me in AL's use such that my
playing experience is that much better, and perhaps in the future I
could further mentor someone else in its use.
