The Rise of the Teradrim

Earthquakes began to rock the City of Bloodloch, shaking the earth and
giving all of the inhabitants much concern. Soon after the quakes began,
though, a solid stone door at the end of a small passage was discovered.
While many tried to find ways to open the door, others were content to
simply wait for the strange sounds that could be heard on the other side
of the door to manifest themselves.

Eventually, the door began to shimmer and two orcs stepped out. Dressed
in a religious fashion, the two orcs were very hesitant to meet the
assembled Bloodlochians, worrying that they might be in league with the
dwarves that once inhabited the caverns of the city. Shy as they were,
it was discovered that the orcs were twins, and that they both were the
devout and blessed of the Underking, the unseen God whose realm is both
Earth and Death. Eventually the large crowed overwhelmed the twins, and
they both retreated back behind the door to a place they called the
Earthen Grotto.

Many days later, the female orc, known as Abdalia, hesitantly stepped
out of the Grotto once again. Curious and meek, Abdalia was nothing like
her overbearing brother who had solely interacted with the citizens up
to this point. She revealed that she and her brother had powers over the
earth and powers of animation, though she did not reveal what her
specific powers might entail. She told those assembled that she and her
brother had sealed off the caverns when the dwarves has sought to mine
the precious gems that are found within the Grotto and that they sought
isolation as a tribute to the Underking. She further revealed that she
had left the Grotto without her brother's permission and that if she
were discovered, he would be very upset.

Before she was able to sneak back in through the door, her brother
stepped out, full of rage. She attempted to calm him down, but he viewed
the escape as tantamount to treason to their Lord and struck her across
the face. Upset and confused, she ran off into the dark caverns of
Bloodloch, attempting to find her way through a city that did not exist
when she last saw the caverns.

Her brother, known as Virul, sought to compose himself once again. He
strode back into the Grotto only to return a short time later telling
all that he would now accept disciples into the Teradrim Sect, a sect
that is devoted to the Underking. And thus that guild was born.

Three things of note came out of this turn of events: The first is that
in order to become a full member of the Teradrim Sect, one needed to
undergo the Ritual of Union, a process by which a person bonded with the
Underking in a rather fundamental way. The second was that shortly after
the formation of the guild, the guild and Virul chose Alaron Laurn as
its first guildmaster. And the third ... well, let us just say the story
of Abdalia is not complete. The nymphs have been heard gossiping about
the unusual woman who could meld into a petrified tree, something even
they could not do.

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Variach, in the year 168 MA.
