The Reformation of the Naldareth and the Revealing of Kelsys

Ariela, tutor to the Magi, had been studying certain enchanted items
that had been found in the Magi guildhall for decades when she finally
approached the guild to explain the results of her research. During the
course of this explanation, one of the enchantments was activated, and
everyone present was subjected to visions of unusual clarity and depth
that explained something of the history of the Magi. Quite shaken by
these images, Ariela left the guildhall and wandered the realm for
several long days.
The release of energy that accompanied this activation alerted the
spirit of Azaeru, founder of the Naldareth, who had been quietly
watching events in the realm unfold. He approached the Magi and
explained to them that before the Grand Artifice they were the
Naldareth, a guild devoted to the protection of the realm from the Three
Children. He explained the prophesy of the Three Children and described
the necessity of taking up The Burden of Watching for the Three Children
in order to avert catastrophe for everyone. He also explained the past
agreement between the Naldareth and the city of Kelsys.
Azaeru informed the Magi present that they were required to make a
choice. They were asked to choose between taking up The Burden and
becoming the Naldareth once more, or remaining on their current path,
and pursuing the destiny to which that would eventually lead. He gave
them seven months to make their choice, and told them he would return to
hear it, then left.
This entire situation was quite a surprise to the Magi and they entered
into a flurry of discussion regarding The Burden and the possibilities
of their current path. Eventually Ariela returned to the Magi, and had
taken back her original name, Aliahandra. She began her studies of the
ancient tomes anew.
After six months had passed, Azaeru, having forseen what the Magi would
ultimately choose, went to the Institute in Spinesreach and sent visions
to several of its scholars, calling them to the Chamber of Magic. They
responded rapidly, and heard from Azaeru the story of the Three
Children, The Burden, and the agreement between the Naldareth and
Kelsys. Azaeru informed them that he sought those wiling to become
Naldareth, return to Kelsys, take up The Burden, and prepare themselves
for the Coming of the Third Child. He explained some of the past, and
the needs of the future. This news excited the interest of the scholars,
and they set to discussing it amongst themselves.
The next month, Azaeru again approached the Magi. Upon hearing their
choice to continue on their current path towards the destiny to be found
there, he again called the scholars to him and told them the time had
come to take up The Burden, re-open the Silver Spire of the Naldareth,
and begin the reformation of the guild. Moira, Slyphe's servant, who
knew how to open a rift in the enchantment that kept Kelsys hidden, led
the group into Kelsys. She brought them to the place said to be where
the Silver Spire was hidden and left them to find their way.
Azaeru provided them these clues: "See with Clarity", "Think Logically",
"Use the forces you have at your disposal", and "Study Diligently". The
scholars stood inside a small garden shed and pondered it, searching and
examining everything there. Eventually they found their way past the
illusion that was hiding the Spire, and worked their way through the
puzzle that had locked it. They discovered tomes of tantalizing
information that explained how the Lutha Kelma, the enchantment that had
kept Kelsys hidden for so many years, could be disabled.
One of the scholars, in his excitement, rushed ahead and was immediately
killed by the Spire's guardian. This alerted the others that there was
someone else within the Spire and they hurried to meet this individual.
The explorers came across Rashida, an elemental guardian of great power
who had gone quite mad. It alternated between bellowed threats, whining
cajolement, and unintelligible ramblings as the scholars tried to
negotiate with it for assistance in the removal of the Lutha Kelma.
Eventually Rashida was convinced that its time was ended and it needed
to perform the necessary tasks that would cause its existence to end,
and reveal all of the Silver Spire and Kelsys to the realm. It ordered
everyone out of the Spire because of the great danger and worked its way
through the necessary steps to release the vast energies used in the
enchantement. At the end of the process, bright energy enveloped the
Spire and then shot upwards in a beam that was seen throughout the realm
as Rashida boomed out, "I HAVE BECOME!" and disappeared with the energy
as it shot out of the atmosphere.
Thus it is that a group of scholars has undertaken the reformation of
the Naldareth, and has sworn oaths to protect the realm from outside
threats and to uphold the old agreement to protect the Kelki. They took
up The Burden and struggle to relearn what has been lost in the Grand
Artifice so that they may be ready for the Third Child.
What has become of Rashida is still not known, but the words of its
final shout are cause for much speculation.
