Memories from the past

The Syssin Defenders for many years wished to have a milking room built
into the guildhall they had re-inhabited in Spinesreach. They contacted
many masons to build the room, but they still lacked the necessary tools
to make it into a milking room.

As a guild, they debated what should be done. Some thought they should
break an alliance they had and steal the milking equipment that way.
Others thought they should find an artisan who could copy another set of
equipment. But without the original specifications, they weren't even
sure if that would work. Finally, they decided to make an effort to
re-infiltrate their former guildhall, now sunk deep under the Sapphire
Sea, and salvage any equipment they could find there.

Led by Oceania, the group discovered the location of the sunken ship and
dove down deep only to find their former guildhome taken over by a dark
and shadowy presence. Believed lost, their former guild tutor, the
Shadow Codex, had set up a shadowy kingdom within the ship; its subjects
were the various sea creatures who made their home within the ship. The
Shadow Codex, sensing its kingdom was about to come to an end, ordered
the creatures to defend their watery home.

After many fierce battles the group came to the Shadow Codex, who had
turned mad from the years of isolation at the bottom of the ocean.
Slaying it, they took the key it held and opened up the former milking
room to salvage the equipment.

Some may say in its madness, the Shadow Codex had lost all sense of
reality, but that is too simplistic. For in the far corner of the boat,
the group found a shrine to Severn that had sunk with the boat. The
Shadow Codex had ordered the small shrimp in the boat to maintain the
shrine and keep it pristine by trimming off growth that accumulated on
it. Could such a deliberate action be signs of a insane mind?

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Niuran, in the year 137 MA.
