Jaru: For the Arqeshi, by the Arqeshi

Jaru: for years, inhabited only by vagrants, squatters, and animals. Preceded by their unmistakable musk, however, Arqeshi surveyors and workers were witnessed flitting in and out of the Jaru gate of Enorian for days, carrying tools, samples of water, and supplies in and out of the city.

On the 4th of Arios, 471 MA, the beginnings of their work was completed. To mark this day, the Chieftain himself, Sorkan, approached Enorian, and was granted an audience with the Vanguard and her Heralds, the ruling council of the great city. There, Sorkan announced his intent to settle Jaru, and sought positive relations with their neighbors Enorian, and the Iron Hill.

After an amenable discussion between the leaders present, Sorkan turned to the Magister of Spirit, head of the Ascendril Order, to request a trade: the assistance of the mages in flooding Jaru, in exchange for a demand of their own. It was agreed that Jaru would send three bright youths to the Ascendril Order, and a deal was struck.

Three mages were led to the bridge over the great Pachacacha, and there they worked a mighty spell over the waters, bending the river to their will and causing it to flood almost the entirety of Jaru: using a clever combination of their channel to the Plane of Water and amplifying crystals, the Ascendril forced the river into an irrigation channel, and cemented the power with a bit of ylem, ensuring that Jaru would always have a source of water. The great task exhausted the mages, but it left a permanent mark on the land, serving as a reminder of their working.

Now, Jaru has opened its borders, a newborn village: the first true Arqeshi settlement on Sapience.

Penned by my hand on Closday, the 10th of Arios, in the year 471 MA.
