The Three Widow War

The Atav of Skythrone, directed by an ill-guided omen and fear of the
unknown, demanded the surrender of the Dwarves and Trolls of the Three
Widows land so that they may be slaves. War had yet again come to
Sapience, though now it come from within its own borders as Atav raiders
descended from their lofty throne in untold numbers.

Enorian quickly assembled a vanguard of stalwart fighters, rallying to
the aid of those that would bring war to the commonfolk of the land and
slew the Atav raiders that they met within the mountain passes of the
Three Widows. In the hours that followed, Enorian broached unification
with the Dwarves and Trolls, hoping to create a staunch defense against
the Atav and warned them to not trust those of Spinesreach or Bloodloch,
suggesting that they would join forces to help enslave their people. The
villagers took this to heart, trusting those who arrived to their aid
first, and remained ill at ease with those that came to follow. The
Atav, incensed by the denial of their terms by Elder Elerl, sent a slew
of assassins after the Dwarf, but were unsuccessful with the efforts of
Enorian and the Dwarves of Heylai. The failed attack was a merely a
further catalyst needed to bind the Trolls and Dwarves together against
a common enemy.

With the failure of the assassination and attack upon the unified
forces, a delegate of the Atav was sent to nearby territories from
Skythrone to ensure assistance or non-involvement. When the delegate -
Apiyanora - arrived, she met with Fezzix of Spinesreach. While bemused
by the situation, the Atav were advised the city would not take an
official stance. From the people of the Spires, Apiyanora learned of
Bloodloch and sent their delegate to discuss the situation. Bloodloch
decided, from what was presented to them by the Atav, that they would
aide the enslavers - thinking they were like-minded people in that sense
and finding comfort in their cruelty towards the 'lesser' of the Three
Widows.

As the war progressed, many things happened. Elerl would find himself
desperate, feeling that the people of Enorian and Duiran were not
enough, and make his way to Spinesreach to seek out assistance. To his
surprise, and really to the world's surprise, Spinesreach rushed to
their aide - taking dominance as their protectors. The Atav were being
overwhelmed - so they called for a ceasefire and brought their troops
home.

Elerl would use his new-found alliance to get suggestions on how to
infiltrate Skythrone, thinking it would be wise to take a blow at the
Atav when they least expected it. However, Dan and Earl - the Dwarves
that attempted the infiltration - were slain by the Atav. This only
fueled the Skythrone people to demand a surrender of the villagers,
ultimately re-opening the war with more energy than before.

Many acts of bravery and courage determined the fate of the Three Widows
- the Dwarves performing orel-raids on the Skythrone people, which ended
in the lives of many Dwarves being taken by the Atav; the Ascendril
would gain the help of an Atav historian and open a secondary access
point to the Three Widows; and, ultimately, the Trolls lead by Dratin
would infiltrate Skythrone properly and force the surrender of the Atav.

In the end, while many lives were lost, more peace has been found in the Three Widows land because of all of this. The villagers founded the Three Widows Republic, in reflection of the government of Spinesreach that was so dedicated to their cause, and ultimately have forged a new alliance. There is still much to be seen and done as a brighter future awaits these people. Hopefully, with the Atav someday realizing their ignorance and finding a place in the new Republic as well.
