The instability of the energy within the Vortex reached a peak this past
month, with waves of energy forming rifts across the Bloodwood, Ayhesa,
and around much of the rest of the world. Several from Spinesreach and
Enorian called a truce to investigate these events, venturing into the
Vortex itself.

Soon afterwards, many of those of the Demonsbane, including Astrin, one
of their leaders, who had been searching for a way to control the influx
of energy, died- apparently of old age. Astrin, however, managed to
leave behind several runes containing bits of elemental energy, with the
promise that they could stabilize the energy between the planes. The
runes appeared from the closing of the rifts, and occasionally, from the
elementals spawned by them.

Meanwhile, Ayeli, leader of the Aztob, was crafting her own means of
escape from the Vortex by using the elemental runes, and managed to open
a portal into the Ayhesa, allowing some of her Indoron to get through.

The Mages- now Ascendril- who survived the energy collapse within the
Vortex have promised a means of containing the new portal and
stabilizing the energy: to TUNE RUNE FOR ASCENDRIL. However, rumor has
it that the portals can be tuned for the Sciomancer guild as well, and
Ayeli has promised reward to any who assist in their plans to escape...
