Early in Severin, a great thunderous boom went up from the insular town
of Mournhold. As the vortex wavered visibly, each of the Ascendril felt
a strange quiver run through their elemental conduits. Rushing to the
aid of Katia, an erstwhile Ascendril graduate now working under the
kelki Pact, the mages and the warriors of Enorian discovered her frantic
and hysterical, stammering about breaking into a Terminus; more
questioning revealed that she had ripped a hole into a distant shard of
Air and let through self-described "horrifying monsters".
Steeling themselves, the gathered warriors pushed through the workshop
door and discovered... small, flying jellyfish. The momentary bemusement
turned to fear as the jellies rapidly consumed the energies of the
attacks directed at them, swelling to colossal sizes and absorbing
everything the group could dish out. Quick thinking by the warriors saw
the ctenophores swiftly frozen, starved and banished back to the space
beyond the rift.
As the group gathered around the fissure, a slight snag emerged; none of
the Ascendril could properly channel air or earth to sever the gate!
Belgarion swiftly stepped forward and brought his will to bear, rapidly
knitting the wound in reality shut and ending the crisis, but not before
a few of the small, docile jellies had passed through. Extracting
Katia's promise to cease her unsupervised experiments, the group
departed, and the Ascendril stored the wayward creatures safely out of
harm's way.
It remains to be seen if the creatures can thrive on the Prime Material,
and questions linger about the strange, broken realm glimpsed beyond the
rift.
